New Build Case Study
This new build three storey bespoke house has recently been completed for a private client. The accommodation provides five bedrooms, four bathrooms, large open plan kitchen / dining / living areas, cloakroom, utility, WC and an office. The clients are a retired architect and artist, so they designed the house themselves with the aim to incorporate best practice in design and construction from a career’s worth of experience and knowledge.
As clients with an interest in art and design, the house was designed to stand out from the surrounding properties but not so much as to be out of place. The building was also designed to provide the best thermal, structural, mechanical and electrical features including Velfac triple glazed window systems, precast plank ground and first floor construction, underfloor heating on all three floors, Zehnder mechanical ventilation heat recovery, photo voltaic “in roof” array with Tesla Powerwall battery storage, Zappi EV charger and Solar Eddi PV immersion device and smart home wiring. There is a single storey “wrap around” section of the building, clad in Pigmento Blue Zinc, standing seam cladding which is an angular shape that runs to a point, which is quite unique. Internally this has led to an unusually shaped and large open plan living space with large, glazed sliding doors to let in maximum light. The staircase which has been meticulously designed in oak is an outstanding feature with bespoke designed feature balustrade. Externally all the usable space has been uniquely designed with feature patios and bespoke pergolas.
We were very lucky to have had the opportunity to build this home as the design, planning and detailed design were in progress for years and went through several transformations before it could be constructed.
The final result is a stunning, bespoke high-quality home. The quality of the bespoke finishes and attention to detail speak for themselves. The very exacting standards of the clients have been exceeded and they are very happy with the comfortable, sustainable home.
